I'm looking forward to our big American Graffiti-themed fundraiser on Friday, March 6th. The games, food, raffle, and dancing should be fantastic — all in support of scholarships. Thank you to every club member who has put this event together, especially Lisa Hendrix, Yami Goldberg, Marsha Becker, Robin Knight, and Diana Mangan. Wear your fun American Graffiti outfit.
On Tuesday, March 3rd, several of us are presenting a $3,500 check to the Beaumont Police Department at City Hall. The funds came from the successful First Responders' Recognition Spaghetti Dinner and will help purchase tactical gear, complementing the gift from Rotarian Della Condon that's supporting the purchase of a new K-9 dog.
I recently attended the Southwest Rotary President Elect Leadership (PELS) training in Los Angeles, February 20th-22nd. Over 800 Rotarians attended workshops, presentations, and guest speakers. You'll hear more about my training over the next couple of months.
Matthew Pistilli and I are also working on the Peace Pole Project. The first poles will be installed at the Beaumont Library and the Albert A. Chatigny Senior Community Center. We're deferring Beaumont Unified School District installations to next year.
And finally — remember Mary Brubaker at her memorial on Friday, March 6 at 1:00 PM at Weaver Mortuary, with a reception afterwards. She will be missed.
